The Takoradi Circuit Court “A” has sentenced Geraldinho Kofi Laryea, a 20-year-old footballer, to 10 years imprisonment in hard labour for defiling a 15-year-old girl and possessing obscene pictures and cinematography films.

He pleaded guilty.

Police Chief Inspector Fuseini Yakubu told the court presided by Mrs. Justice Rita Abena Doko that in June 2013, the convict met the victim at Kweikuma and proposed love to her.

Laryea took down the mobile phone number of the victim and often communicated with her.

He told the victim he was a footballer based in Europe and was on vacation. He invited her to his room and had sexual intercourse with her, using the web camera on his laptop to take pictures and filmed the sexual acts unknown to the victim.

The prosecutor said in March the convict went to the victim’s house, showed the nude pictures and video to her and threatened that if she did not visit him again he would post the pictures and film on the internet for her parents to see.

Chief Inspector Yakubu said the victim went to the accused person’s house and he had sex with her.

He said on November 3 this year the victim could no longer bear the Laryea’s incessant sexual demands and informed her brother who communicated with the convict and convinced him to send the obscene pictures and films to him on his mobile phone.

Chief Inspector Yakubu said a report was made to the Police and Laryea was arrested.

A search in his room produced a projector, HP Laptop, used MTN and Tigo scratch cards valued at 700 Ghana cedis and Tigo and MTN modems were found.

A search on the laptop showed obscene pictures and films of Laryea having sex with women including the victim.

He said the accused person admitted the offence and was charged.

Passing sentence Mrs Justice Doko said the behaviour of the convict was against the norms of the society and should not be tolerated.
