Six people arraigned for possessing Indian hemp

Bibiani, (W/R), July 10, GNA- A circuit court at Bibiani has remanded six persons including a student into prison custody for possessing Indian hemp.

They were Eric Kwaku, a 26 year-old farmer, Kwabena Aprega, a 20-year-old apprentice electrician, and Francis Oppong, 27, a second hand cloth dealer.

The rest were Kojo Kaya 33, a farmer, Yaw Tawiah, 45, also a farmer and Stephen Quiacoo, a student of Sefwi-Wiaso secondary school. Their pleas were not taken and they will reappear in court on July 19 this year.

Police Inspector Lucky Goglomi, told the court that the accused persons were arrested in a joint police/military operations at their hide-out where two fertilizer bags full of the dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, a knife, a sharp harmer and two guns were found.
