Accra Aug. 25, GNA - A Circuit Court in Accra on Wednesday remanded into police custody a soldier, Corporal Sampson Narh, on charges of abduction of a female and defilement.

Narh has pleaded not guilty to the charges and he is expected to reappear on September 8.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Sarah Acquah told the court presided over by Mrs Patience Tetteh-Mills that the victim aged 15, lived with her mother at Teshie Tsui Bleoo in Accra. Accused also resides at Teshie Military Barracks.

Prosecution said the victim had completed Junior High School in 2008 and could not continue with her education and had to sell sachet water.

In May this year, prosecution said the victim went to Teshie barracks to buy a bag of sachet water to sell. While waiting for the woman selling the bags of sachet water, Narh called the victim and kept her in his room for four days.

The Prosecutor said the victim's mother after fruitless search for her daughter, heard that the victim was in the room of the accused. Prosecution said the mother brought her daughter home and reported the matter to the Police.
