Kade (E/R) July 4 GNA - The Kade District Magistrate Court on Friday slapped a 12-month jail term on one Bismark Yaw Brako, who threatened to kill her mother and poured away a soup meant for her food selling business. Bismark was convicted on his own plea for causing unlawful damage and pleaded not guilty for threatening his mother, Grace Agyekumwaa, with a cutlass with the intent to put fear into her or put her to death. He will reappear on July 9 to face the second count. Police Inspector, Francis Cobbina, prosecuting, told the court, presided over by Mr E.A. Awuah that the complainant and son lived in the same house at Akyem Abodom in the Kwaebibirem District. He said the convict assists her mother with her "banku" and soup business every evening.

At about 1600 hours On June 22, while mother and son were preparing the meal for sale, Bismark took the wooden implement used in stirring the "banku" and hit the mother's hand without provocation. The prosecutor said the convict also poured the soup on the ground together with the banku and went ahead to take a cutlass and threatened to kill his mother.

A report was made to the police leading to the arrest of Bismark. Inspector Cobbina said the convict said in his caution statement if he gets the opportunity, he would eliminate his mother. 4 July 10
