Nyinahin (Ash), Aug. 31, GNA - A 25-year old unemployed has been remanded by a magistrate's court at Nyinahin court for threatening to kill his mother.
Yaw Owusu, the culprit, whose plea was not taken will re-appear on September 9.
Police Chief Inspector George Letsah told the court presided over by Mr Noble Nkrumah that the accused was an ex-convict who served six months prison term two years ago for threatening to kill his uncle at Achiase, near Adiembra.
He said after serving his sentence, his mother Madam Agnes Pokua, also called Afua Mensei gave her cocoa farm to him to take care of but he failed to maintain it.
The prosecution said the mother therefore took the farm from him and gave it to one Mr Owusu Mensah to take care of.
Chief Inspector Letsah said on July 23 this year, at about 1600 hours the accused took a cutlass and went to his mother's house and attempted to butcher her for taking the farm from him. He said, however, that the accused was overpowered and the cutlass taken away from him and sensing danger, he fled the village but was arrested at his hideout and handed over to the police.
