A speeding taxi, bearing the license number GX 8200-22, allegedly crushed a retired pastor to death.
The tragic incident occurred in Krispo City, a neighborhood in Kasoa within the Awutu Senya East Municipality of the Central Region.
The victim has been identified as Joseph Kwaku Koranteng, a retired pastor from the Apostolic Church of Ghana in Gomoa Nyanyano.
Eyewitnesses report that the man, believed to be in his 70s, was crossing the dual carriageway from left to right to check his blood pressure status when the speeding taxi fatally struck him.
Following the incident, police transported the body to the Mother and Child Hospital Mortuary for preservation. The taxi driver has been detained and is currently aiding the police with their investigation.
An eyewitness, who was acquainted with the retired pastor, recounted the incident, stating that he had just alighted from a commercial vehicle when he witnessed the unfortunate event.
"I didn't realize it was him at first. I wasn't there when he arrived. But as I got out of the car, I saw a speeding taxi hit him. He was in his seventies, nearing eighty," he stated.
