Storekeeper appears in court for allegedly defiling a minor

Frank Acheampong, alias Kuku, a storekeeper at Sampa Valley who allegedly defiled a 13-year-old pupil on Monday appeared before an Accra Circuit Court.

The accused pleaded not guilty to defilement and was remanded into lawful custody to re-appear on Wednesday May 16.

Police Chief Inspector Isaac A.A. Ahor, prosecuting, said the victim lives with her aunt while the accused lives in the same vicinity.

He said the victim sold kenkey in front of the Kuku's house and sometime in March this year, the victim went to the accused house to collect a debt of five Ghana cedis, being kenkey and fish he bought from her.

Chief Inspector Ahor said as soon as the victim reached the house, the accused told her to enter his room, he followed up and pushed her into his room and defiled her after which the accused warned her not to mention her ordeal to anyone.

He said the victim’s aunt saw a change in her walking and questioned her and she confessed her ordeal to her aunt.

Chief Inspector Ahor said, the case was reported to the Police DOVVSU at Kaneshie, where the victim was given a form to be medically examined.

He said the accused was arrested and in his caution statement admitted the offence and after investigations charged.**
