Asamankese, Feb. 12, GNA - Samuel Opoku, a student, who had pleaded not guilty with another student on charges of conspiracy to steal and stealing, suddenly changed his plea to guilty when he appeared again before the Asamankese Circuit Court on Friday. Mohammed Kelan Sulemana charged with him still insisted he was not guilty.
When the two were called into the dock, Opoku raised his hand and when the judge, Mr Emmanuel Siameh, asked him what he had to tell the court, he said he would tell the truth.
The judge then asked that his plea should again be taken and when the charges were read again he pleaded guilty to both counts. When the two students first appeared in court, Police Inspector Francis Cobbina, prosecuting, told the court that the accused persons on January 2, this year, conspired and robbed Sadiq Ibrahim of Kade of one VCD player valued at GHC 450 and some cash.
But Opoku, while agreeing to have stolen the VCD player said he knew nothing about the cash. They will next appear in court on March 01. 12 Feb. 10
