An Accra circuit court on Thursday remanded Ephraim Anerbo, a student, for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl.

Stephen, who pleaded not guilty to the charge, was said to have defiled the girl at New Aplaku, a town in the Greater Accra Region.

Police Inspector Kofi Atimbire said the girl is a student of Ave Maria school and lives at New Aplaku while the 22-year-old accused is a student at St Karol Nursing School at Aplaku.

He said in September 2012, the victim and accused met at Global Revival Ministry and became friends.

Police Inspector Atimbire said the accused person sometimes thought the victim mathematics and science, and also gave her past examination questions to solve.

He said the accused person took advantage of the victim and had sexual intercourse with her on two different occasions after giving her the past questions and warned her not to tell her parents.

The prosecution said on January 21, 2013, at about 1900 hours, the victim went out to buy fruit juice and on her way, the accused took her into his room and had sex with her.

He told the Court that a neighbour who was passing by heard the cry of the victim and rushed to the room where she met her with the accused person on the bed, and raised the alarm.

Police Inspector Atimbire said the neighbour informed the victim’s mother, who later reported to the police, and was given a medical form for a medical treatment and report results.

He said the accused person went into hiding until he was arrested by the victim’s father on July 13, 2013 and handed over to the police for investigations.

The accused person is to reappear before the Court on September 16.
