Wassa-Akropong (W/R), May 25, GNA - Authorities of Amanfiman Secondary School at Wassa-Akropong have suspended indefinitely a female student for engaging one of her tutors in a fight in town. Mr Ebenezer Oduro, the tutor, was rescued by on-lookers after he received hefty blows from the 18-year-old second year general arts student that sent him sprawling.
Mr Oduro received bruises on his knees and elbows.
Madam Faustina Barbara Adarquah, the Headmistress of the school, told the Ghana News Agency that the indefinite suspension of the girl was to serve as a deterrent to other students.
She described the incident as "barbaric" and does not promote good atmosphere for teaching and learning. "Under no circumstances should a student engage a teacher in a fight". Madam Adarquah said investigations were going on and the Board of Directors of the Schools would meet soon to deliberate on the issue.
