A suspected money doubler was on Saturday shot to death in the mining community of Tinga in the Bole District of the Northern Region.

Bole District Police commander, ASP David Azumah who confirmed the incident to mynewsgh.com, said his outfit is still investigating the matter and disclosed that no arrest has been yet.

“We received a case like that. We are currently investigating the matter but we have deposited the body of the deceased at the Bole Government Hospital Mortuary pending autopsy”, he revealed.

According to residents of the area, they said money doubler who lodged at a hotel Tinga is alleged to have taken GH¢500 and a cock from a young man to perform some rituals under the guise of doubling it for him.

He was however reported to have failed on his part of the bargain incurring anger of the victim.

After several failed attempts to retrieve his money, the young man in question was alleged to have mobilised his friends and went to the hotel where the money doubler lodged, manhandled him and then reported him to a local vigilant group who have been mandated by the community to patrol Tinga which is a small scale mining community noted for armed robbery and other social vices.

The vigilante group forcefully sent the money doubler to the caretaker chief of the Tinga community called Alhaji Ofori. After interrogating the money doubler, the caretaker chief asked for him to be freed and that was done.

Later the following day the body of the money doubler was found in the bush near Tinga with some gunshot wounds.

It is not clear who killed him but the police in Bole have confirmed they are handling the case.
