Taxi cabbie remanded for goat stealing

Cape Coast, June 27, GNA - A 26 year-old taxi driver, Nana Yaw Bassaw who, together with one other person now at large, allegedly stole 16 goats and three sheep from Nyankumasi Ahenkro in the Assin South District was on Monday remanded by a circuit court at Cape Coast. Bassaw pleaded not guilty to two counts of stealing and would be re-arraigned on June 30.

Cape Coast, June 27, GNA - A 26 year-old taxi driver, Nana Yaw Bassaw who, together with one other person now at large, allegedly stole 16 goats and three sheep from Nyankumasi Ahenkro in the Assin South District was on Monday remanded by a circuit court at Cape Coast. Bassaw pleaded not guilty to two counts of stealing and would be re-arraigned on June 30. Chief Inspector Hope Azasoo, prosecuting, told the court that on June 26, policemen on duty at the Moree police barrier intercepted a taxi with the animals in it. He said the police found that four of the animals, three goats and one sheep, were dead. While counting the animals, the other passenger in the taxi bolted. Bassaw told the police that they stole the animals from the Nyankumasi area.
