Cape Coast, Oct 27, GNA - A 22-year-old teacher, Eric Abaidoo, has been remanded into police custody by a Magistrate Court in Cape Coast for indecently assaulting a nine-year-old pupil. He pleaded not guilty and is to re-appear on October 27, 2010. Prosecuting, Inspector Daniel Agbezulor said that the accused lives in the same vicinity with the victim at Birimsu Apewosika, near Cape Coast. He said on Saturday, October 2, 2010, the victim's elder brother, with whom she lives, left her at home to attend a funeral at Mankessim. He said Abaidoo took advantage of the situation and invited the victim to his room where he raised the volume of his TV set, removed her panties, placed her on his bed and inserted his fingers deep into her vagina. Inspector Agbezulor said upon the return of her brother, the girl disclosed the ordeal she had gone through to him and he in turn reported the incident to the Domestic Violence and Victim's Support Unit in Cape Coast. He said they were issued a medical report form for the girl to be examined at the hospital, and the accused was later arrested but denied the offence upon interrogation.
