Teacher remanded for embezzling insurance premium

Twifo Praso (C/R), June 28, GNA- Yaw Amoako Kwakye, a teacher of the D/A primary school at Twifo-Praso who also doubles as a premium collector for the district health insurance scheme, was on Tuesday remanded for embezzling 10,172,000 cedis for the scheme. Kwakye, who pleaded guilty to stealing, refunded two million cedis out of the amount in court.

Twifo Praso (C/R), June 28, GNA- Yaw Amoako Kwakye, a teacher of the D/A primary school at Twifo-Praso who also doubles as a premium collector for the district health insurance scheme, was on Tuesday remanded for embezzling 10,172,000 cedis for the scheme. Kwakye, who pleaded guilty to stealing, refunded two million cedis out of the amount in court. Prosecuting, Chief Inspector George Okine told the court presided over by Mr Joseph Blay that the accused was a premium collector for the Twifo Hemang-Lower-Denkyira District Health Insurance Scheme and could not account for the money when it was audited in February.
