Techiman court gets tough for thieves.

The Techiman Circuit Court has sentenced three people to four years imprisonment each with hard labour for stealing three (3) computers valued at ¢9,200,000 belonging to Kouse Secondary Technical School.

The convicts were Akwsi Pious, twenty years (20), carpenter, Agyarko Yeboah 18yrs, farmer and Adu-Dekyi Fauster 18yrs a student of the said school.

Presenting the facts of the case to the court, presided over by His Lordship G. A. Kwasi Kumah, police chief inspector Comfort Nyamesah revealed that on 25th May, 2007 about 1:00am, the accused persons entered the schools premises and broke into the school’s computer lab. The accused persons stole three (3) computers and its accessories.

The prosecutor stressed that, the following morning, the authorities of the school detected the theft and rushed to Wenchi Police Station to lodge a complain. The school head later made radio announcement.

According to Chief Inspector Nyamesah, a patriotic citizen who saw the accused persona around the school premises informed the police. She added that the police proceeded to Akwasi Pious’ house and arrested him together with the items.

Inspector Nyamesah revealed that pious mentioned Agyarko and Foster as his accomplices. The police subsequently arrested them at their hideouts and after investigations they were charged with that offense.

The convicts all pleaded guilty and prayed for leniency.

On passing sentence, the presiding judge his lordship Akwasi Kumah observed that the conduct of accused person was criminal and that they deserve a severe punishment to serve as a determent to those recalcitrant citizens who want to be rich over night.
