Tema, Oct. 25, GNA - The Tema Regional Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Daniel Laryea Odai has advised police personnel to exhibit bravery and professionalism during operational duties to weed out miscreants from the society. He, however, advised them against indiscriminate firing of weapons to kill innocent people but they were duty bound to protect them from armed robbers and criminals.

ACP Odai gave the advice when he was addressing officers and men after a dawn operation at the weekend in parts of Tema to clamp down on narcotic peddlers and criminals in the municipality. He assured police personnel of his outfit, who with bravery respond to distress calls from the public of his support and protection and promised that those who excelled would be rewarded as a morale booster. The operation covered notorious areas in Tema communities one, two, five and Sakumono, where 15 suspected narcotic dealers and 14 commercial drivers were arrested.

The drivers, who were arrested around the Tema Municipal Assembly, were to face charges like parking and picking passengers at unauthorised places, and causing road obstruction.

Most of the peddlers were caught in the act of smoking the drug and would answer charges for loitering and possessing narcotic drug.
