Three persons granted bail on compounding crime charge

The Winneba District Magistrate Court has granted a six thousand-cedi bail each, to a building contractor and two farmers resident at Gomoa Panfokrom for compounding crime.

Nana Justice Aidoo, 50, Abena Hemaa, 32, and Kwesi Donkor, 56, pleaded not guilty to the charge and will re-appear before the court on December 23.


Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Willaim Kwame Akanaah told the court presided over by Mr. Charles Owusu Nsiah that the complainant in the case is the headteacher of the Gomoa Panfokrom Junior High School.


The prosecution said on November 28, Donkor and four others, arrested one David Kweku Arhin, a 52-year-old farmer also residing at Gomoa Panfokrom for having carnal knowledge of a 9-year-old pupil.


Chief Inspector Akanaah said, Donkor and the others took Arhin to the house of Nana Justice Aidoo, the Nbrantiehene of the area for arbitration.

The prosecution said, they sat on the matter and arrived at an amicable settlement, and Arhin was directed to pay an amount of 2,000 Ghana Cedis as compensation to the victim.


The prosecution said on November 29, the Nbrantiehene handed over 250 Ghana Cedis to Donkor and Hemaa as part of the amount Arhin was supposed to pay to the victim..


Chief Inspector Akanaah said on December 3, the headmaster of Gomoa Panfokrom heard about the matter and reported it to the Winneba DOVVSU, who arrested the accused persons and arraigned them before the court.
