Three people arrested over alleged attack and robbery of a man of his taxi, cash and mobile phones, were on Monday ordered to be held in prison custody by a Kumasi Circuit Court.

The pleas of Nana Kofi Karikari, Ebenezer Karikari alias “Kwaku Oduro”, and Dominic Andoh were not taken.

They would make their next appearance on March 27.

Two of the accused, Nana Kofi and Ebenezer, have been jointly charged with conspiracy and robbery while Andoh is to answer the crime of dishonestly receiving.

Their one other accomplice, who was not identified in court, is said to be on the run.

Police Superintendent Regina Addo-Yobo told the court presided over by Mr Ekow Mensah that Nana Kofi, Ebenezer and their fugitive accomplice, engaged the service of the victim, Mohammed Issah, to carry them in his taxi from Kumasi to Aboaso in the Kwabre East District on January 21 at about 1600 hours.

She said as they neared the community, the three at gunpoint asked the driver to stop, which he did for fear of his life.

They pulled him out, forcibly removed his cash of GH¢150, two mobile phones and fled with the vehicle and items.

Issah later made a report to the police and the vehicle, which had a tracking device, was tracked down to the house of Andoh at Breman-UGC.

He profusely denied taking part in the robbery and insisted that Nana Kofi, Ebenezer and their run-away colleague had sent the vehicle to him to buy at the price of GH¢4,500.
