A tracking device installed on a mobile phone of a victim has led to the arrest of two out of three suspected armed robbers who attacked five victims at Kwabenya last Sunday dawn.

The two suspects have been identified as Frederick Brown and Issah Dramani.

They were arrested inside a wooden structure at Dome near a public toilet. However, one of the suspects identified as Awudu managed to escape the police.

Items stolen included a total cash of GH¢ 15,000, seven mobile phones, five wrist watches, two handbags, a laptop and a car key.

Briefing the media, the Accra Regional Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Afia Tenge, said the attack occurred around 2am on Sunday, July 29, 2018.

One of the victims (named withheld) and a friend arrived from town to his home at Dome Pillar 2 in a Navara pickup and while alighting from the car, three young men armed with pistols attacked them.

The armed young men took from the complainant an amount of GH¢12,000, his Nokia six phone, the car key and collected two phones from his friend as well.

Not satisfied, the armed robbers escorted the victims to their room and took a laptop, five wrist watches and GH¢ 3,000 in addition to the GH¢12,000.

In an attempt to drive away the Navara pickup belonging to the complainant, they ran into a taxi cab which had just arrived in the house with two ladies onboard.

The three hoodlums pounced on them, attacked and robbed the ladies and the taxi driver of their mobile phones, handbags and took away the keys of the taxi driver and bolted, leaving the taxi and Navara pickup behind.

A report was immediately lodged at the Kwabenyah District Police Command and while investigations were ongoing, one of the victims, whose iphone had a tracking device, told the police and that led to the tracing of the suspects to their hideout at Dome.

When police arrived at Dome, one of the suspects, identified as Awudu, had left on a motorbike leaving two other suspects inside a wooden apartment.

They were immediately arrested and when a search was conducted on them items belonging to the first complainant were found.

The two suspects have been transferred to the Accra Regional Police Command for further interrogations.

However, efforts are being put in place to get the other suspect arrested.
