A trader, Michael Andoh, has been fined GH¢1,200 or in default serve 18 months imprisonment in hard labour for causing harm.
The Half-Assini Court presided over by Mr Hans Kofi Kpodo, also bonded him for 12 months to be of good behaviour, or serve four months imprisonment.
The convict, who pleaded guilty, was ordered by the judge to compensate Philip Meah, the complainant, with GH¢150 to defray his medical expenses.
Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Robert Owusu told the court that the complainant is a farmer while the convict is a trader.
He said Andoh who rented a room at Meah’s house fixed an electricity metre, which he later sold to the complainant’s brother called Joseph Meah, at GH¢ 200.
The prosecutor said Andoh also collected the same amount from Philip Meah, for the metre.
Philip who detected that the metre had been sold to him and his sibling went to Andoh to demand his money.
The convict refused to refund the money and a scuffle ensued between them and in the process Andoh stabbed Philip Meah’s shoulder with a knife, injuring him severely.
Chief Inspector Owusu said a report was made to the police resulting in the arrest of Andoh, who was arraigned.
