Tema, Sept. 13, GNA -- A 32-year old trader has been put before the Tema Circuit Court 'B' for defrauding a complainant of 24 million cedis. Sandra Amoah, pleaded not guilty to the charge and has been granted bail in the sum of 60 million cedis to re-appear on Monday, September 20.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Robert Aganiba, told the court, presided over by Mr Stephen Teye that in March 2001, the complainant expressed the desire to purchase a house and was introduced to the accused person. DSP Aganiba said accused person showed the house at Community Eight to the complainant, and pegged its price at 24 million cedis. The prosecution said the complainant paid the money to the accused person, but after several months of vain promises, the complainant could not get possession of the house.
DSP said faced with this dilemma, the complainant had no alternative than to report the case to police. The prosecution said during interrogation, it became known that the landlord of the house was a pensioner resident in Cape Coast, who did not know the accused, neither had he taken any money from her.
