A military patrol team at Aflao during the weekend arrested two Burkinabe nationals, on an unapproved route along the border at Aflao, with two Russian-made pistols concealed on their bodies.

The two, Sulleyman Porjoh, 42 and Yakubu Sare, 33, claimed they were travelling from Cote d’Ivoire where they were resident, en route to Benin. A source close to the National Security at Aflao, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA), that the weapons were each loaded with 16 rounds of nine millimeter ammunition.

He said two talismans and two cellular phones were seized from them. The source said indications were that the two were on a clandestine mission, and that on arrival at Aflao Saturday morning, sought the help of local boys to enable them to cross into Lome, Togo.

He said the guides of Porjoh and Sare, suspected they were carrying weapons, and hinted the Patrol Team, which arrested them. The source said the two, had since been handed over to the authorities in Accra for investigations.
