Accra, March 27, GNA - Two land guards attacked a land developer and her workers in Accra for refusing to give them money. However, the assailants were severely beaten up when neighbours came to the assistance of the land developer and her workers, a Circuit Court heard in Accra on Monday.

Wisdom Amenyo, alias Taller, a drinking bar operator and Ibrahim Yahaya, an auto mechanic apprentice, both of Anyaa Fan Milk, who were brought to Court, had various injuries on their heads, faces, chest, hands and other parts of their body.

The court granted them 30 million cedis bail each with one surety to reappear on April 21 due to their condition. They were charged on three counts of forcible entry, assault and threat of death.

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Margaritte Awuni said Miss Rose Osei, a trader, went to her site at Asofa, near Anyaa, about a fortnight ago with workers to work on her plot. Amenyo and Yahaya went to her to demand money from her before they would allow her to work on the land. Chief Inspector Awuni said Miss Osei told them that she had no money on her and that they should wait for her husband to come, but they were inpatient.

Amenyo drew a sharp cutlass hidden under his pair of trousers and the two attacked Miss Osei and her workers.

The Prosecutor said Amenyo and Yahaya threatened Miss Osei with death if she failed to give them the money.

Miss Osei tried to use her cell phone to call for help but they seized the phone from her.

The workers then sensing danger shouted for help and some neighbours rushed to the scene. Chief Inspector Awuni said when Amenyo and Yahaya saw the people they retreated but they were overpowered and subjected to severe beating.

The two men were later handed over to the Police, who took them to hospital.

In their cautioned statements they said they went to the site to demand ice water from Miss Osei but denied assaulting and threatening her and her workers.
