Two farmers at Trede, a community in the Atwima-Kwanwoma District, have been arrested by the police over a fraudulent land sale.

Nana Attah Yeboah and Awere Asamoah had collected cash of GHC16,400.00 from a woman farmer under the pretext of getting her a two-acre building plot.

The pair were on Friday, put before a Kumasi Circuit Court, presided over by Mrs. Afua Adu-Amankwaah, charged with defrauding by false pretenses.

They pleaded not guilty to the crime and were each granted GHC15,000.00 bail with two sureties, one to be justified.

The accused were ordered to make their next appearance on July 14.

Police Chief Inspector Timothy Amoako, told the court that the victim, Madam Yaa Afrah, who was looking for land to build a house approached Yeboah, the chief’s linguist, and he offered to assist.

He brought in Asamoah and the two, took her to inspect a two-acre land, agreed on a fee of GHC18,000.00, out of which, she paid to them GH?16,400.00.

The prosecutor said the woman later went to the land and saw that it was being developed by another person and attempts to get the accused persons to pay back the money, proved unsuccessful.

She, therefore, reported the matter to the police leading to their arrest.
