Two farmers fined for offensive conduct and assault

Konongo-Ashanti, April 30, GNA - A Konongo Magistrate's court has fined two farmers 60 Ghana cedis each on their own plea for offensive conduct and assault at Agogo in the Asante Akim North Municipality. Kwabena Tawiah 41 and Ben Kasoa 30 were in addition ordered to pay a compensation of 30 Ghana cedis to the complainant or serve twelve months imprisonment each in default.

Police Inspector Eric Kobla Atatesh, prosecuting told the court presided over by Mr John Bosco Nabarese that during the morning of April 1, this year, Mr Ruben Kwaku Apraku, the complainant was a security guard on duty at the Presbyterian Hospital at Agogo.

He said the accused persons went to the hospital to visit a patient Agya Asiedu on admission and had earlier died at dawn.

The prosecution said when they were informed of the demise of the patient his daughter Kate shouted at the top of her voice attracting the attention of other patients.

Police Inspector Atatesh said the complainant went to console Kate but the accused persons became offended and assaulted him until he was rescued by some onlookers and he (complainant) reported the incident to the Agogo Police. He said the accused persons were arrested and after investigations charged with the offence.
