Two friends before court for stealing motorbike

Dormaa-Ahenkro (B/A), July 11, GNA - Two friends have appeared before a circuit court at Dormaa-Ahenkro for conspiracy to steal and stealing a motorbike belonging to a drinking spot operator.

Attah Kwabena and Kwaku Sarfo, both farmers, stay at Diaban, near Nkrankwanta in the Dormaa Municipality.

The court presided over by Mr Alexander Osei-Tutu sentenced Kwabena, who pleaded guilty, to a five-year jail term and remanded Sarfo, who pleaded not guilty, into prison custody to re-appear at a later date.

Adama Bukari, alias 93Sereba", an accomplice, is on the run. Inspector George Kumah told the court that the complainant kept the motorbike under lock at his drinking spot at about 2330 hours on June 25 this year and went to bed.

He said Kwabena, Sarfo and Bukari broke into the spot and stole the motorbike.

Insp. Kumah said that the following morning, the Complainant detected that his motorbike had been stolen.

The Prosecution said investigations by the complainant revealed that Kwabena, Sarfo and Bukari stole the motorbike.

He said Attah Kwabena admitted the offence during interrogation but Sarfo denied knowledge of the theft.
