Two in court for allegedly attacking security men

Asamankese (E/R), Aug. 18, GNA - For allegedly attacking a security officer in the course of his duties, two men have been arraigned before the Asamankese Circuit Court charged with intentionally and unlawfully causing harm to the security man, Awurang Sampson.

Kwaku Abeiku and Kwame Ofosu, pleaded not guilty and were granted self-cognisance bail of two million cedis each to re-appear on August 31.

Police Inspector P.K. Sappor, prosecuting, said on May 26, this year, Mr Sampson, a Surety Officer of the Delta Security Services at the Ghana Oil Palm Development Company (GOPDC) at Kwae, was on guard duties at the plantation when the accused persons, with others now at large, emerged with cutlasses and clubs and attacked him.

He said they subjected him to severe beatings and inflicted cutlass wounds on his left hand and escaped into the bush. Inspector Sappor said a report was made to the Police and the complainant who was bleeding profusely was issued with police medical form to attend hospital for treatment. He said on June 12, the accused were arrested at a hideout.
