Drama unfolded at an Accra Circuit Court when a mason was sentenced to 16 years imprisonment for defiling a 12-year old girl at Pantang in Accra.
Godwin Agbenyegah, who was escorted to court, screamed at his sister called Esi that he was not afraid to go into the judge’s chamber when the matter was called.
According to Agbeyegah who is 36 years, “even John the Baptist in the Bible had his head cut off” hence he was not afraid no matter what happened.
“Esi I will be back,” the convict assured his sister.
Agbeyegah, however, on his return from the judge’s chamber, he had the shock of his life when he sadly yelled out his sister’s name: ‘’ Esi, 16 years,’’ meaning he has been sentenced to 16 years imprisonment.
His pronouncement sent the audience in the court laughing.
Agbeyegah aka last Jaguar Virgin and General Osama was found guilty on the charge of defilement by the court presided over by Mrs Rita Agyeman Budu.
Prosecuting Inspector Kofi Atimbire told the court that the complainant in the case is a trader and the mother of the victim a class three pupil.
The complainant resides at Pantang with the victim while the convict also resides in the same vicinity.
At about 1500 hours in February the victim was returning from school when Agbeyegah called her to run errands for her.
Walking towards the bush, Agbeyegah could not tell the victim what she was supposed to buy.
Prosecution said Agbeyegah carried the victim into the bush, covered her mouth and had sex with her and took to his heels.
Inspector Atimbire said weeks after the act, the complainant detected some changes in the way the victim was walking and when she was questioned, she confessed that a certain man had defiled her.
According to the victim, she could identify him when she sees him.
When the matter was reported the victim was issued with a medical form to attend hospital for examination and treatment.
Prosecution said Agbeyegah was identified and arrested.
In another development, the same court sentenced Frank Kwame Ankah to 18 years imprisonment for defiling an eight year- old girl at Russia.
Ankah aged 19, denied the offence but pleaded with the court to deal leniently with him.
