Two robbers Amegadzi Kwame, and Francis Akwetey both 20-years-old have been jailed 18 years each in prison by a Koforidua Circuit Court for robbing and stabbing a female National Service Scheme (NSS) personnel.

The two pleaded guilty to three counts of conspiracy to commit crime, robbery and causing harm hence convicted upon their own guilty plea.

The Prosecutor, Chief Inspector Emmanuel Owusu Bronyah told the Court that the complaint is a 24-year-old NSS personnel, Victoria Datse a resident at Mile 50 while the convicts Amegadzi Kwame and Francis Akwetey are bulldozer Operator and farmer respectively both residents in the same community in the New Juaben Municipality of the Eastern region.

According to the Prosecutor, on December 6, 2017, at about 9:45 pm, the convicts attacked the complainant with a knife when returning home from Church, took away her handbag containing a Bible, a pair of shoe, Samsung galaxy grand mobile phone all valued at GH¢960 and cash sum of GH¢150.

The Prosecutor added that, the complainant who was bleeding profusely raised alarm for help but nobody came to her rescue, however, managed to lodge a complaint at the Police where medical form was issued her for treatment.

He said while the investigation was ongoing, a similar incident occurred on December 20, 2017, where the two were arrested and the complainant identified them as her attacker.

Kwame Amegadzi who inflicted the knife wounds on the complainant was handed additional two years sentence which will run concurrently with the 18 years sentence.
