Two killed in ‘attack’ on Fulanis at Yendi

Ibrahimah Abdulai, 24, a butcher and a resident of Yendi in the Northern Region, has been murdered by some unknown assailants in Kuga, a suburb of Yendi. His body was found in a near-by bush.

The deceased according a police report, was found dead by the Assembly member of Kuga, Imoro Ibrahim, on Sunday at about 6:30pm.

He reported the case to the Yendi Divisional Police and led the police to the scene with the body “in the supine position with multiple deep cutlass wounds on the body with his motor-bike parked besides him”.

Preliminary investigations by the Yendi Police again revealed “that about 2:00 pm on 29/10/17 the deceased told his senior brother that he had arraigned with a Fulani man to buy a cow from him so he was going and nothing was heard about him till his death”.

The body of the deceased has since been deposited at Tamale Teaching Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy. Attacks on normadic farmers popularly known as Fulanis were later found at different locations in Yendi and each had multiple degrees of injury.

“They were rushed to Yendì hospital for treatment. One was however pronounced dead on arrival,” the police report said. It is believed that the four wounded Fulanis were attacked by some unknown persons after news of the death of Ibrahimah Abdulai was communicated.

“Investigation revealed that when the news of deceased Ibrahimah Abdulai got to some sympathies and friends they went on rampage and offensively attacked any Fulani they met, in the process, a motor-bike belonging to one of victims was set ablaze.”

No arrest has been made according to the Public Relations Officer of Northern Regional Police Command, ASP Yussif Tanko.
