Two men remanded for stealing at company.

Tema, Aug. 21, GNA - The Tema Circuit Court 'B' has remanded into custody two men who broke into the office of the Personal Assistant of the Managing Director of MYROC Food Processing Company at Tema to steal money from a drawer.

Michael Akunnor, Pre-Cooking Supervisor and Gabriel Ofori, Steel Bender, pleaded not guilty to varied charges of abetment; being on premises for unlawful purpose and stealing. They will reappear on August 31, 2004.

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Edith Nutakor told the Court presided over by Mr Stephen Teye that in July 2004, Akunnor made a drawing of the administrative block of the company indicating the various offices and gave it to Ofori, a dismissed employee of the company, through another worker now on the run at his residence.

The drawing gave a vivid description and direction of the Office of the Personal Assistant where Ofori was to break into the second drawer for whatever money was kept inside.

Chief Inspector Nutakor said on August 11, at about 1730 hours, the two accused persons met outside the factory premises and Akunnor gave the green light for the execution of the operation.

At about 2330 hours that night, when Akunnor and Sampson were on night duty at the factory, Ofori jumped over the wall into the factory but luck was not on their side when they were seen together behind the factory boiler by a another workers and Akunnor asked Ofori to go back through the same route he came in.

She said Ofori in the process of retreating, was arrested by the Security Officers of the Company, adding that during investigations, Ofori told the Police that he went into the factory with the intent to break into the office of the Personal Assistant and produced the original copy of the drawing given to him by Akunnor.

Akunnor initially denied knowledge of the drawing but later confessed when Police Forensic Laboratory identified the handwriting to be his.
