Two people were brutally murdered in a robbery attack at Wallembelle, a village in the Sissala East municipality of the Upper West region, citinewsonline.com reports.

The robbers, who arrived on two motorbikes, stormed a mobile money shop, firing sporadically as they ransacked the premises and made off with an undisclosed amount of money.

The tragic incident occurred on Saturday, August 17, 2024, around 7:00pm when four armed men targeted a mobile money vendor in the village.

A survivor of the attack, who chose to remain anonymous, recounted the terrifying ordeal.

After looting the shop, two of the robbers struggled to start their motorbike, delaying their escape. Sensing an opportunity, Tordia Munkailu, one of the victims, attempted to raise an alarm and pursued the robbers.

Realising the threat, the robbers opened fire, fatally shooting Munkailu and another victim, Fuseini Benorwuo. The attackers then fled the scene, abandoning the malfunctioning motorbike.

Authorities are currently investigating the case as the community mourns the loss of two of its members.
