Two persons remanded for robbery

Two suspects, who were part of a gang that broke into a house at North Odorkor and attacked its occupants with weapons, on Wednesday appeared before an Accra Circuit Court.

The suspects robbed the house of various items including a laptop, four mobile phones, two wedding rings, jewelries and cash sum of GH¢260.00

The accused persons, Ato Kwamena, alias Skin Wood and Daniel Nii Addey Armah, alias Aminu lion, have been charged with conspiracy to commit crime and robbery.

They pleaded not guilty to the charges and were remanded into prison custody to re-appear on September 19, 2012.

The Prosecutor, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Patrick A. Morkeh, presenting the facts said the complainant who is a Research Fellow at the University of Ghana, Legon, lives with his family at North Odorkor.

He said on September 12, 2008 at about 0130 hours, a loud bang on their kitchen door woke-up the complainant and his household.

He said suddenly, the two accused persons together with four others, who have been jailed by an Accra High Court, armed with weapon, stormed the house breaking into all the seven rooms within the apartment. They attacked one Lt. Col. Robert Darko (Retired), the complainant’s father, shot him in the right thigh and robbed them of the various items.

He said the case was reported to the Police and during investigation, four persons were arrested and they mentioned the two accused persons and one other, now at large as their accomplices.

He said on June 3rd Kwamena was arrested and on August 15th, 2012 Armah was also arrested from their hideouts.
