Two suspected thieves who allegedly stole a Nissan Sentra saloon vehicle with the registration number DP 14145-13 have been remanded into prison custody by the Tarkwa Circuit Court.

The accused, Kwaku Baaro, businessman, 37, and Dominic Senyo, a 46-year-old mobile phone repairer, will re-appear before the court on July 22.

Prosecuting, Detective Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah, told the court presided over by Mr. Samuel Obeng Diawuo that on July 11, at about 1030 hours, the Nsuta Wassa Police had information that the two, together with one John, who is now on the run, had stolen a Nissan Sentra vehicle.

According to Inspector Amponsah, when a team of police officers proceeded to De-Rash city, a restaurant located in Tarkwa, where the culprits were reported to have made a stopover, they met the three eating and Kwaku Baaro and Dominic Senyo were arrested, but the third accomplice managed to escape.

He said the stolen vehicle was brought to the police station and impounded.

The prosecutor said checks conducted on the vehicle indicated that it had been registered, but the number plates had been removed.

Further checks revealed that the address on both sides of the vehicle had been obliterated.

Inspector Amponsah said the two accused persons have refused to disclose where they stole the vehicle to the police, claiming it belonged to John.

He said efforts are being made to apprehend John to assist the police in its investigation.
