Unemployed defiles class one pupil

Nerebehi-Ashanti, Oct. 07, GNA - Mr Kofi Awuah, a 21-year-old unemployed at Nerebehi in the Atwima-Nwabiagya District was on Wednesday arrested and handed over to the Abuakwa police by some residents for allegedly defiling a six-year-old class one pupil.

He was arrested in a bush near the Nerebehi primary school where the victim attends school by two residents. Briefing the Ghana News Agency at Nerebehi at the weekend, Madam Mary Donkor, Primary one teacher said she was distributing exercise books to the pupils when she detected that the victim was not in the classroom.


She therefore sent a message to the parents of the girl that their daughter had bolted from class.


Madam Donkor said shortly after, the teachers heard a noise in a nearby bush and together with another teacher, Madam Beatrice Boama Baamo rushed to the scene.

She said they saw Awuah in the grips of two residents of the community, Mr Dominic Akowuah and Akua Forkuo while the victim was crying.


Madam Donkor said upon enquiries, they were told that Awuah had defiled the victim and had been apprehended by the two residents. She said Awuah was then sent to the Abuakwa police station and the victim to Abuakwa health centre where she was later referred to Nkawie Government Hospital.


When contacted, a source at the Abuakwa police confirmed the report and said investigations were being conducted. 07 Oct. 06
