Tarkwa (W/R), Sept. 26, GNA – A Tarkwa Circuit Court has adjourned the case of Richmond Jonathan Afram for allegedly defrauding a staff of Goldfields Ghana Limited of GH¢7,000 with the intention of helping him buy a Nissan Pick-Up.
He pleaded not guilty and will re-appear before the court on October 10.
Detective Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah told the court presided over by Mr Samuel Obeng Diawuo that, both the complainant and the accused person reside at Tarkwa.
He said on October 6, 2010, the complainant informed the accused about his plan of purchasing a Nissan Pick-Up to augment his pig farm work.
Chief Inspector Amponsah said the accused told the complainant that his brother, one Nana was a customs officer who dealt in auction cars and could help him obtain a Pick-Up at an affordable price.
He said the accused allowed the complainant to interact on the phone with his brother where they bargained for the price of the vehicle.
Chief Inspector Amponsah said the complainant then gave the agreed amount to the accused to be given to his brother for the vehicle.
He said after the amount had been given to the accused all efforts to trace his brother and the vehicle proved futile.
Chief Inspector Amponsah said the matter was reported to the Police who arrested the accused and during interrogation said he gave the money to his brother whose whereabouts are unknown
