Half-Assini magistrate court in Western Region has fined a 22-year-old unemployed from Tikobo No 1, GH?300.00 for stealing personal belongings.
Ewulley Kaku pleaded guilty and was accordingly convicted on his own plea and in default spend three months in jail.
The court presided over by Mr Abdul Majid Illiasu, ordered the convict to compensate the complaint GH?200.00 for damages caused to the Philips DVD player and inconveniences.
Prosecuting, Police Sergeant Isaac Ebo Otoo, said the complaint, a businessman, Mr Patrick Ackah his son, Clement Ackah and the convict person live in the same neighbourhood.
He said about 1500 hours on Tuesday, October 6, the complainant spotted the convict behind his window with the speaker-box and the hand bag.
The prosecution said when he called him, he took on his heels.
Sergeant Ebo said complainant with the help of neighbours arrested Kaku.
He said after the arrest, Kaku was found with a bag containing two mobile phones and chargers, a pair of foot ware, speaker-box and Philips DVD player costing GH? 500.00 belonging to the complainant.
The prosecution said when Kaku was asked how he came by the items, he could not give any tangible answer.
He said Kaku was escorted to complainant's house where it was discovered that he had broken into his room.
Kaku was sent to the Tikobo No.1 Police Station where he was arraigned.
Passing the sentence, the Magistrate said the convict was a first offender who never wasted the court's time, hence the lenient sentence.
