Unemployed imprisoned for stealing

A Circuit Court in Dormaa – Ahenkro on Wednesday sentenced Appiah Justice, 19, unemployed to five years in prison for stealing.

Appiah who pleaded guilty was charged on two counts, unlawful entry and stealing.

Stating the facts of the case, Detective Inspector Tin Ahiaduvor, said the complainant is a farmer who lives at Benekwaakrom near Nsesereso in Dormaa – Ahenkro, while the convict hails from Nsesereso.

He said on May 25 at 6 pm, the complainant left for mosque to pray and the convict took advantage to forcibly open the padlock to steal a sports bicycle valued at GH¢ 250.00, one generator valued at GH¢ 450.00, some quantity of fertilizer also valued at GH¢ 110.00.

Inspector Ahiaduvor, said the convict spotted by a witness in the case who informed the complainant who subsequently reported the case to the Police.

The Prosecutor said after all efforts to apprehend the convict proved futile, an informant told the Police that the Appiah had left for Berekum and was arrested on a tip-off and sent to Nsesereso Police Station.

Items found on him included one DVD player, one Samsung mobile phone and a school bag.

Detective Inspective Ahiaduvoroom at Nsesereso who is also a complainant in another case.
