Aflao, April. 6, GNA- Teye Ankamah, a 22 year old unemployed, is in critical condition at the Dangme District Hospital at Ada with multiple cutlass wounds, allegedly inflicted on him by his bosom friend without any provocation, moments after sharing a meal together. Dada Hoyome, 21, the suspect, is in police custody at Tefle, near Sogakope assisting in investigations. A source close to the Sogakope police told the GNA that Ankamah, who lived at Adonorkope in the Dangme-East District and Hoyome from Keseve in the South-Tongu district were close friends, who visited each other regularly.

He said in the morning of Tuesday, April 1, this year the victim again visited Hoyome at Keseve after, which the two returned to Adonorkope, where they bought some fried fish and prepared a meal at Hoyome's house at Keseve.

The Source said while having their siesta after the meals, Hoyome, who is a farmer, reached out for his sharpened cutlass and attacked Ankamah, who was asleep, inflicting several cuts on him including the neck.

He said Ankamah's shout for help attracted neighbours, who rushed him to the hospital while another group arrested Hoyome and handed him over to the police.

The Source said Hoyome, who admitted the crime, claimed a strange thought influenced him to harm his friend, blaming the attack on the works of the devil.

Sources from the two villages alleged that Ankamah and Hoyome were drug addicts with a craze for Indian hemp. Dr Philip Narh, Medical Superintendent of the Dangme-East Hospital said the victim was still not medically stable and that he was under intensive care.

"Some of the wounds are very deep indeed," the Medical Doctor said.
