A Cape Coast magistrate’s court on Wednesday jailed Anthony Edem Kofi Esirifi, a 21-year-old unemployed man, for 18 months in hard labour for stealing two mobile phones and GHc200.00 Esirifi pleaded guilty.

Chief Inspector Safo Khanen told the court presided over by Mr. Ohemeng Mensah that last Saturday, Aba Korba, a fishmonger and resident of Moree locked her room and slept in front of the room.

The court heard that when Korba woke up the next morning she realized that someone broke the window, entered the room and stole GHC 200.00 and two mobile phones.

Chief Insp. Khanen said last Monday, when the complainant went to a phone repairing shop to collect her repaired phone, she met the convict holding one of the stolen phones.

The prosecution said the complainant raised the alarm and the convict was apprehended and handed over to the police.

Chief Insp. Khanen said Esirifi in his caution statement told the police that he bought the phone from an unknown person.
