Dennis Adu, the suspect connived with some others to steal valuables from one Madam Ellen Arthur
An Accra Circuit Court on Tuesday ordered that an unemployed man be kept in police custody for stealing items worth about 9,675 dollars.
Dennis Adu, the unemployed denied conspiring with one Gyimah and Mohammed, his accomplices, to unlawfully enter the premise of Madam Ellen Arthur to steal a number of her personal effects valued at 9,675 dollars.
He is to make his next appearance on December 19, 2018.
Prosecuting, Police Inspector Seth Frimpong told the Court presided over by Mrs Ruby Quaison that on October 31, this year, the prosecution witness travelled abroad only upon her return to found her room broken into and ransacked.
He said a formal complaint was lodged with the Police and it was detected that items including two suit cases containing wax prints and tie and dye clothes, gold and silver jewellery, two power banks, electrical gadgets, cellular phones such as an I-Phone 5, a Blackberry and Sony Ericson were missing.
The Prosecution said Adu was arrested during investigations on November 26 where he admitted the offence but his accomplices managed to escape.
Inspector Frimpong said, 32 pieces of tie and dye as well as wax prints, the two suit cases, a winter coat, golden rings were retrieved from Adu.
His counsel in praying for bail told the Court that Adu had a fixed place of abode and that he would come back to court anytime his assistant was required and would not interfere with investigations.
The Prosecution however disagreed and said the investigators needed the accused to assist in further investigations.
