Juaso (Ash), Jan 1, GNA-A driver from Dwendwemase near Juaso who told the Juaso circuit court that he had stopped driving for the past five years and could not even trace his driving license, has been remanded into custody.

John Larbi pleaded guilty with explanation of failing to produce driving license, roadworthiness certificate and driving an unlicensed vehicle.

He will re-appear on January 14 for sentence. The presiding judge, Mr John Boon, in his remarks said Larbi knowing that on December 24 a lot of passengers travelled for the Christmas celebrations, decided to drive without license which result in an accident.

He ordered the police to charge the owner of the Ford bus with registration number GT 6453 N to appear before the court on the next adjourned date.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Godfried Anim, prosecuting told the court that on December 24, last year at 0730 hours, police on motor check duties on the Juaso-Ofoase road intercepted Larbi driving a Ford bus loaded with 14 passengers instead of 11.

He said when police demanded his driving license, roadworthiness and insurance certificates, the accused failed to produce them. Larbi absconded when the police ordered him to drive the vehicle to the police station and was later located and arrested.
