Welder jailed five years for causing harm

A 20-year old welder, who attacked his victim with broken bottle, inflicting deep wounds on him, has been sentenced to five years imprisonment by a circuit court in Kumasi.

Osuman Mohammed pleaded guilty for unlawfully causing harm.

Police Chief Inspector Comfort Baffour Kyei, told the court presided over by Justice Emmanuel Amo-Yartey that, the crime was committed on March 16, at about 2200 hours.

The prosecution said the complainant, a trader at Old Tafo in Kumasi, pleaded with Mohammed to stop beating a lady but to no avail.

Insp. Kyei said, the complainant left the scene but he was later on attacked by Mohammed with a broken bottle.

Prosecution said, the complainant was rushed to the Tafo Government Hospital and was transferred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital where he was admitted for two days.**
