Western Regional Command arrests over 200 suspected criminals

The Western Regional Police Command in a joint operation with armed forces and other security agencies has arrested 213 suspected criminals in their various hideouts believed to be engaging in all forms of criminal activities ranging from kidnapping, armed robbery, prostitution among others.

The operation which started around 4:00am on Thursday, September 11, with a total of 400 security personal from the Regional Security Agencies is termed as Operation Calm Life.

The operation was supported by one Air force helicopter, one navel ship, two naval boat and one marine police boat. It was carried out at the Albert Bosomtwe Sam fishing Harbour and Naval Base.

Addressing the media after the operation, ACP Edmund Ohene Bosompim revealed that there have been reported cases of kidnapping, armed robbery, drug related and other offences which are not only worrisome but are also great security concerns.

At the end of the exercise 213 suspected criminals were nabbed of which 194 were male and 19 females,other valuable items were retrieved.

He told the general public that crime prevention is a shared responsibility and encouraged them to assist the police with credible information.
