Woman Murdered In Boyfriend?s Room

Sekondi -- The inhabitants of Kejebir, a small town in the Ahanta West District of the Western Region,were shocked out of their sleep on the night of Saturday, February 19,this year, when a married woman paying a visit to a boyfriend in the town was brutally murdered by an unknown assailant in the room of the man. Joanna Cudjoe, the deceaced,was 48.

According to Nana Ekow Yawson, the Western Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), on February 19, this year, Joanna?s boyfriend,Thomas Kwame Eshun,55,a citizen of Kejebir attended a funeral at Mpenyinasa village along the Takoradi-Dixcove road.

On his way back, Eshun, accompanied by a friend,to visit Joanna.Eshun then invited Joanna to spend the night with him at Kejebir.

Joanna was married to one Mr Anthony Yaakwesi Ansah,49, who has two other wives living in separate villages and at the time Joanna visited Eshun,he was away visiting one of his other wives at Mpatano village.

Mr Ansah is a teacher undergoing further studies at the University of Cape Coast.The deceased had 10 children, six by Mr Ansah and the other four by a previous marriage.

Nana Yawson said Joanna accepted the invitation and at about 8 p.m. of the same day, she arrived at the home of Eshun at Kejebir.

The PRO said as the night wore on,an intruder managed to gain entrance into Eshun?s room as they both slept and stabbed Joanna,who died instantly.

When Eshun woke up at the soundof the unusual noise, he found Joanna in a pool of blood.He rushed to lodge a complaint with the police.

Two young boys who identified the body as that of Joanna rode on bicycles to Mpatano at about 1 a.m. and informed her husband.Nana Yawson said thorough investigations were underway.Meanwhile,two persons have been arrested and are helping the police in their investigations.
