The timely intervention by a neighbour at Ahenkofikrom in the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis averted what would have gone on record as one of the cruel acts to have been unleashed on humanity in the metropolis, in the early hours of Saturday, October 29, 2016.

A lady believed to be in her late 20s allegedly hatched a diabolic plan to burn her ex-boyfriend into ashes while he was sleeping in his room at around 1am that fateful day.

According to the lady who pleaded anonymity, she purportedly decided to kill the boyfriend because the guy had jilted her. She said this in an interview with Takoradi-based Skyy Power FM.

“The man who I had wanted to burn had been my boyfriend for over five years but he has ditched me for another girl and was going round telling her friends that he is still having sex with me,” she told listeners.

According to the lady, she wanted to punish the ex-lover for the pain and disgrace he was taking her through.

“But for the intervention of the neighbour, I would have set the single room apartment in which my ex-lover stays ablaze to burn him into ashes while he was sleeping”, she stressed.

Speaking to DAILY GUIDE, Frederick Amissah, the neighbour who bumped into the scene explained that that he woke up on the said day around 1am to respond to nature’s call.

He indicated that he suddenly saw the trap door of a house in the neighbourhood on fire with the young lady escaping from the scene.

Amissah pointed out that he became alarmed and hurriedly rushed to confront the lady as to what might have caused the fire.

According to him, the lady who initially tried to deny having any hand in the incident, later agreed to the tell truth after he threatened to send her to police station.

Amissah claimed that with the help of the lady herself, he was able to extinguish the fire which was then blazing after which the lady explained her reasons for the attempted arson.

Amissah indicated that surprisingly, as the drama was unfolding, the ex-lover was still sleeping adding “then I decided to bang the main door to wake him up but he did not wake up”.

“Later the guy woke up and explained that he decided not to open the main door after hearing the knock because he thought it was the lady knocking. But after smelling an unusual scent he woke up and realized that parts of his trap door had been burnt”, Amissah explained.

The neighbour noted that he later reported the case to the police but he was advised by the police to rather tell the boyfriend to do that.

Meanwhile the boyfriend, who also pleaded anonymity, had indicated his unwillingness to report the case. According to him, he had not jilted the lady and alleged that it was rather the lady who had gone in for another boyfriend.
