Edward Essan, 33, who beat his wife for demanding money from him to send their child to the hospital was on Monday granted a GH¢500.00. bail for assaulting his wife.

Essan pleaded guilty to assault but the court presided over by Mr Ohemeng Mensah on hearing the facts of the case referred it to the Alternative Dispute Resolution committee (ADR) for settlement.

Sergeant Charles Effah, told the court that the accused is married to Ms Mary Ama Kumaa and they have three kids.

He said on the Friday January 13, the wife asked Essan for money to send their son who was sick to the hospital and this generated into a misunderstanding as he insisted that he had no money.

He said in the process, Ms Kumaa held her husband’s shirt and demanded the money and a fight ensued during which she allegedly pulled her husband’s penis compelling him to brutalize her in return.

Sergeant Effah said Ms Kumaa reported the matter to the police and Essan was arrested.**
