A woman, charged with robbery and causing unlawful harm collapsed within the court premises when she was being escorted to cell.

Joyce Pupulampu is said to have told the Police escorting her that she was feeling dizzy and then fell to the ground.

Joyce was among a gang of three robbers, who allegedly snatched a vehicle from a driver at gun point at East Legon.

Earlier, Joyce pleaded not guilty to the charges when she appeared before an Accra Circuit Court.

The Court presided over by Mr Aboagye Tandoh remanded her into Police custody to reappear on August 20.

Prosecution said on August 3, this year, at about 15:00 hours, the Police Headquarters Operational Unit received a distress call that a gang of robbers had snatched a private saloon car at gun point from its owner at East Legon and was heading towards the Spintex Road.

According to prosecution the information was relayed to the National SWAT Unit to track the robbers.

The Police Command detailed Chief Inspector Emmanuel Odai in charge of the patrol team from the National SWAT.

The police spotted an ash Sonata Saloon car with registration number GY 600-13, along the Adjiriganor road and ordered the occupants of the vehicle to stop but they defied the orders.

Prosecution said the occupants of the vehicle drove dangerously and in the process caused several damages to some vehicles and knocked down a motor rider.

The robbers ran over and abandoned the motor rider who sustained various degrees of injuries.

Prosecution said the Police managed to arrest Joyce, who was on board the vehicle but the three others escaped.
