Juaso (Ash), Aug 19, GNA - A 34-year-old woman who stole foodstuffs and vegetables belonging to some traders has been sentenced to 18 months imprisonment by the Juaso Circuit Court. Afua Nyarko pleaded guilty to five counts of stealing. Police Chief Inspector Kippo Iddrisu Mahama told the court that traders, who sell foodstuffs and vegetables along the Kumasi/Accra highway, had for sometime been experiencing theft of their goods particularly in the night.
Juaso (Ash), Aug 19, GNA - A 34-year-old woman who stole foodstuffs and vegetables belonging to some traders has been sentenced to 18 months imprisonment by the Juaso Circuit Court. Afua Nyarko pleaded guilty to five counts of stealing. Police Chief Inspector Kippo Iddrisu Mahama told the court that traders, who sell foodstuffs and vegetables along the Kumasi/Accra highway, had for sometime been experiencing theft of their goods particularly in the night. On July 22, Afua approached a taxi driver at Konongo and informed him that she had some foodstuffs at Yawkwei to be conveyed to Konongo. The driver, who became suspicious when accused later rescinded her decision for the reason that it was daybreak, arrested the accused and handed her over to the Konongo police. She led the police to the spot where she had packed the foodstuffs and vegetables in sacks hidden in a bush and admitted stealing them from the traders.
