Sunyani (B/A), May 24, GNA - The Sunyani Magistrate Court presided by Mr Albert Zogah on Wednesday remanded Mary Twenewaa, 44, for causing harm to her rival, Madam Augustina Addo, at Abesim, near Sunyani. Twenewaa pleaded not guilty to the charge of causing harm and is to reappear on May 30.

Police Chief Inspector Nana Fosu, prosecuting, said both accused and complainant were married to one Wofa Yaw and lived in the same house at Abesim.

He said during the National Health Insurance Scheme registration their husband asked them to register with their children and after the exercise a receipt was issued covering all the children and given to Madam Addo.

The prosecutor said at about 1100 hours on May 9 this year, Madam Addo gave the receipt to one Obeng, the husband's friend to be given to the accused and her children so they could go and snap their photographs for their identity cards.

He said Twenewaa went to the registration centre without the receipt and was asked by the officials at the centre to go and bring the receipt.

The accused rushed to Madam Addo's house for the receipt but could not see her rival and Obeng who had the receipt gave it to the accused but she insisted on collecting it from Madam Addo.

The Chief Inspector aid Madam Addo who was not aware of what had happened returned to her room only to be hit with an object by Twenewaa, causing a deep cut in her face. The accused then pulled Madam Addo's hair and as she shouted for help some people came to rescue her.
